Veltins Pilsner. Nope, never heard of it either. 7th biggest selling brewers apparently. You can definitely see why - it’s got a lovely silky taste on the tongue, there’s no real lingering bitterness, but it’s there when you’re drinking it. You could really have another one or two of these. I think i might!
One for the buy list.

Well… it’s a generic german pilsner. What do you think it’s like? </topgear>.
It’s pleasant, no lingering aftertaste. Drinkable, but too bland for a session.
Starting my tescos foreign beer binge with Sapporo. Now most of these beers are imports and not ‘foreign’ in the sense that say fosters or san miguel is (ie brewed in newcastle).
Bizzarely Tescos have imported the canadian brewed brand, rather than the stuff from the japanese or east asian breweries. I’m not familiar with the brand enough to tell the difference, although you wonder if it might taste a little less generic closer to the home market.
As is this is virtually indistinguishable from a decent curry lager…is what I was going to write as I initially started drinking this (massive and awesome) can. As the beer warmed slightly (from very cold to just cold) there’s a hop taste that’s quite distinguished.
Not unpleasant, plus points for having an excellent can/flask/flagon type container.
